This past weekend, we decorated our house for Christmas. We always decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving so that when we return from celebrating Thanksgiving in Alabama, our house is all decorated and ready!
This year was a lot of fun because Caroline knew what was coming and that got Aubrey all excited. Aubrey didn't remember last year, but the fact that Caroline was so excited, she knew that something good was coming!
They had such a great time decorating and we only had one casualty! One ornament hit the floor, but thank goodness it wasn't one that was too important. The girls really enjoyed looking at the different ornaments that Brian and I had as kids and also the ones we have collected together. It was also fun for me because I was able to share memories from my childhood and with Brian with the kids.
This year we have four total trees in our house. Our main family tree, and each child has their own 2 foot tree in their room. I scored those trees last year after Christmas for 5 dollars apiece! I was pretty proud to find those! (and being patient enough to wait until after Christmas) I was worried about the colors of the trees because ever since Aubrey was younger, Caroline has been engraving into Aubrey's mind that her favorite color was blue. (That way Caroline could have everything pink :-) When Andrew came along, it worked out great because there was a pink tree, a purple tree, and a blue tree, so each kid could have a different color. As the year went along, Aubrey began to love blue more and more, and soon it was truly her favorite color. A few weeks ago, I was getting something out of the third car garage, I happened to see the Christmas trees up on the shelf and I realized we were going to have a problem. If Aubrey had her pick, of course, she would have the blue one. So Caroline and I began trying to convince Aubrey of a new favorite color, purple. It seemed to work. She LOVES her purple Christmas tree in her room and has it on at all times!! She still loves blue, but has found another color, at least for the Christmas season, to love as well.
I'm so looking forward to the holidays this year. The girls are going to have so much fun sharing it together and I know Andrew is going to love the wrapping paper :-)
